All business experience times where they need a new perspective or fresh eyes on a situation. I bring over 20 years experience in a variety of industries including tech, property, cultural management, urban regeneration, hospitality. Each change of career was kick-started by being asked to come in and solve a problem, bring a new view or move something on. Transitioning between sectors in this way showed me that while the day to day work may be different, most businesses face the same challenges the same methods can be used for resolving their issues.

Interpersonal problems and conflicts in companies can have a knock-on effect throughout the business. Left unchecked, they can fester and affect productivity, staff morale, employee engagement and lead to absenteeism, stress and staff turnover. HR systems for dealing with staff problems can be non-conciliatory, time consuming and expensive.

I provide a variety of service to businesses, teams and individual employees to help them move forward in positive and practical ways.

Workplace Mediation

Mediation is an informal process where two people come together to discuss and work on their issue, whether it’s a one-off clash or an ongoing difficult relationship.

They are invited to sit down with a mediator to talk, listen to each other and get a better understanding of what is really going on. What happened is often not the same as what is important to people. Together they will explore the problems and come up with their own solutions. By giving them this ownership, the solutions they agree on tend be lasting.

As a mediator I facilitate the process and guide them through in a non-judgement, practical and respectful way. I help them to address and understand the past and look to the future.

Mediation sits outside of the normal HR processes and is fully confidential

 
 

Conflict Coaching

Conflict within a business is not unusual. Sometimes managers and employees may want to learn new ways to prevent disputes from unnecessarily escalating, to improve their skills in conflict management, to develop stronger communication around difficult conversations as well as to deal with a specific problem. Conflict coaching can help by working on both managing conflict as well as solving.

Using a variety of tools, we work one to one with a person who needs help with managing conflict in their daily role. We dissect the problems and look at things from different angles in a non-judgmental way. We identify assumptions, triggers, behaviours and impacts for everyone involved. We then work through potential solutions and road-test them for the real world.

Conflict coaching is transformative for those taking part. They improve their skills and abilities around managing conflict in a way that is specific to them, benefiting both employer and themselves. It’s a positive process where participants are encouraged and supported.

 

Training & Facilitation

I offer hands on training in areas such as Conflict Skills, Resolution, Management for teams in. Training groups means they are all “on the same page” and there is no

Workshops and training days are tailored to you organisation with extensive pre-consultation to ensure that what your employees are going to learn is relevant and useful in their day to day roles.

These workshops can also take on a practical slant where I work with a team to resolve a live conflict and facilitate them in agreeing on ways forward and devising new ways of working for the future.

I have a network of other professionals that I can bring in to deepen the learning and enhance these workshops.

 

Creative Problem Solving & Project Management

Within a company, managers and teams can often be too busy doing the work of the business to step back and view problems and blocks with an objective eye.

Having worked in a number of industries and bringing over 20 years of experience in strategic and operations management, I can help by focusing on a specific problem or inefficiency, viewing it from a different perspective. I can either do this working with teams or from the outside to put fresh eyes over something that is not working and make recommendations or put together a plan to resolve it.

By working outside of a company but alongside the team I can bypass the time constraints, emotion and politics that can often hinder organisations in looking at problems objectively.
